OP 2008-2009 U-11 Tiempo Team Meeting outline
·    Team goals for the year

·
   Soccer should be fun

·         Develop each player’s skills as an individual player and contributor to team play

·         Build friendships and a sense of team among the players

·         Tactical understanding of the game and its rules based on U-11 age group

·         Win – As long as it happens as a result of the above

·         Soccer should be fun

 ·         Equitable Playing Time - Based on attendance, effort, contribution

·         Contribution means: being on time, being respectful of practice time and teammates, improvement, etc.

·         Effort: Being focused and energetic in training. Most of a player’s improvement comes from their teammates during training; putting out effort assures that     both the individual and her teammates will improve.

·         10 – 15 minutes outside of practice with a ball every day will make a very big improvement in a player’s skills over the course of a season

·         Players will get the chance to play all positions

·         Starting lineups change; playing time is usually scheduled on a sheet in advance

·
Equipment – Ball bag or backpack, #4 Ball, pump, spikes, water bottle, shin guards

·         ALWAYS bring both jerseys to games

·         Practice attire – OP practice t-shirt and black practice shorts (not uniform shorts)

·         Under Armor – Not required, but I would strongly recommend a full set

·         Training

·         Woody training – 75 minutes, usually at Scottish Corners

·         8 v 8

·         8 players per side on field; 50 x 80 yard pitch (Avery or Darree Fields)

·         30 minutes halves

·         Delays & cancellations

·         If delay or cancellation occurs more than 30 minutes before practice or before

departure time for game, will notify by e-mail and One Call

·         If less than 30 minutes – by One Call

·         One Call

·         One message is sent simultaneously to all phones in team directory

·         Cost is ≈ $7/family/year

·         Absences/Punctuality

·         Please let me know if your daughter will not be at a game or practice

·         Be at training 5 minutes before start time/be at field 30 minutes before game time

·         Issues/Concerns/Questions

·         If a player has I/C/Q, her first step is to talk to me

·         If not resolved the player, parents, and coach will talk together

·         If a parent has I/C/Q, arrange to talk to me after training or other ‘good’ time

·         Parents’ game behavior

·         Be encouraging and make positive comments

·         Don’t coach; if you have questions about why we are doing something, ask me

·         Never berate our players, the opponents or the referees

·         If you are warned or ejected from a game, I can get the yellow or red card

·         Remember that you represent OP just as much as the players and coaches

 ·         Team money

·         We will have some team expenses that our PA will charge back to the parents (these were not included in the OP fees paid)

·         Indoor soccer and training if applicable
