U13 Green Girls Team Supports Ronald McDonald House Charities

Last year the U-12 Green Team decided they wanted to help RMHC by collecting pop tabs. The Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home for families with critically ill children staying at Children’s Hospital. Every year RMHC generates thousands of dollars from their pop tab collection and now we are proud to say the OP Eagles U-13 Girls Green Team was able to contribute to this wonderful charity. The girls collected approximately 40 pounds of pop tabs for this great cause! A big thank you to the families for collecting over the past year – Way to go OP Eagles!

U11 Girls White Team supports Breast Cancer Research

On Sunday, October 11th members of the girls U11 White team participated in The MaiZe 5K in Milford Center, OH.  All proceeds from the race and bake sale went directly to The Sue Sigman Breast Cancer Fund.  A huge thank you to Sue's family and all the sponsors, including the Columbus Running Company and the Rausch Family Farm.  Over $5000 was raised for Sue, and everyone had a blast.  Please see http://www.columbusrunning.com/images/maize/album/ for more pictures.

Our hearts and prayers are with Sue as she continues her battle.  Thanks for inspiring all of us to be our best.

Kate Hoferkamp

Kate Hoferkamp recently raced in the NBL (National Bicycle League) national final in Louisville, Ky. This was the Grand National Final held September 7-8, 2009.

She just missed the final she needed to get fourth in her semi final to move on to the final. However, she ended up 9th overall in the races that weekend and is now ranked 7th in the country for 2010 race season for 16 year old girls. Kate is also ranked # 1 in the Midwest region that covers 9 states (MI, OH, KY, MO, IA, IN, ILL , MN, WS).

Relay for Life

Some U17 Girls volunteered for Relay for Life.  This was a 24 hour event that took place at Jerome High School. The girls walked laps for donations to the American Cancer Society as well as face painted the little ones. This was a wonderful opportunity for these young ladies to help the fight against cancer. Thank you girls for the happiness you brought the survivors as well as those fighting cancer!!
